My Rock Star Child

This morning, before my bible study, I was at Brady and Caeden's school for the "Honor Roll Assembly." Can I tell you how excited I was to be there!?!?!? First off, I was there because my child, my Brady, made the honor roll for the SECOND time this year. He's 2 for 2 on the Honor Roll. Why am i so excited, besides the obvious? For many reasons. First off, I honestly don't think I will ever go to one of these honor roll assemblies and not get teary when I watch my son walk up those steps onto the stage and shake his principal's hand and receive his certificate. I am so proud of him. So incredibly proud. Brady has already, in his short educational experience, faced a huge challenge that not many students face. When we made the decision to send him to Cascade, we were told that he was very behind. That entire first year there, for 2nd grade, was a struggle for him. So many tears and frustrations while doing homework. So much anger towards school, his teacher and us. But he plowed his way through and it because obvious that he was so behind in every area. His teacher called us in and met with us and the principal and we prayed for wisdom and direction, if we should hold him back. Just the fact that his teacher and principal were praying with us as we walked through this difficult decision was such a blessing. We did decide to hold him back and he repeated 2nd grade. It was one of the hardest decisions as a parent so far and one of the best. We knew what it meant, we knew what he could possibly face from his peers and we knew this was going against the grain. We knew that his little spirit was crushed and hurt. But we did it because we knew it was right and was what God wanted for our son. To see him up on stage, accepting this award, just 2 years later, is incredible to me. His confidence in his abilities has improved so much. Even though at the end of the year, he is still filled with fear that he may not move on, he is growing into such a confident young man. I know God has used this in his life and ours to teach us the amazing lesson that His way is always best, no matter what it looks like and i know He will continue to use it in Brady's life in so many ways. I am so proud of him. He is an amazing boy. So that is why I know that I will tear up at every honor roll assembly because I am remembering what it took to get there, how hard my son has worked and how proud he is of himself and what he has accomplished. Tuesday Mornings

My Tuesday mornings have changed. I started attending the Women's Bible Study at our new church a few weeks ago. We are doing this Beth Moore study. It's pretty good. It's a study about about the Psalms of Ascent. What is that, you ask? Because I asked the same thing. I'm like, Huh? They are the Psalms describing what the Israelites went thru as they made their journey to the Temple in Jerusalem and how it applies to our lives today. It is a great study and I highly recommend it.

Um....HIYEE!!

Ok, so i'm not so good with this blogging thing. A friend of mine said to me "You are obviously not addicted to blogging." That would be accurate, at the moment. But I will try to be better, for all 2 of you who read this.:) Here's the happenin's in the Collins Household this past 3 day weekend.....

**Enjoyed a beautiful sunny day today digging up weeds, playing golf in the front yard, watching my 3 boys blow bubbles until the container was empty, scooped dog doodoo so we could do said things in the front yard and held my breath every time Brady and Caeden rode by each other on their bikes on the very skinny sidewalk.

**Watched my 7-year-old's basketball game and couldn't have been a more prouder mom when he took a shot at the basket. It didn't matter that he didn't make it. He tried! And I love him for that.

**Have spent many hours on this silly computer doing Round Up stuff.

**Made brownies with my kids and ate them. YUM!

**Talked with my dear friend Jill for a really long time. Love those conversations.

**Heard 1/2 of an amazing sermon at church yesterday. The first 1/2 I was out in the lobby talking with an old Younglife girl who I haven't seen since she graduated in 1997! God is so amazing!!!

**Washed 6 loads of laundry in one day. Not all folded but at least clean.

**Went to a cute 4-year-old's party with Tate at the Little Gym. And then an afternoon and evening hanging out with friends.

**BBQ'd burgers tonight. Just the smell of the BBQ made me ache for summer.

**Played a few rounds of "Are you Smarter than a 5th grader?" Stu and Brady are, Caeden and I....not so much. Tate switches sides based on whoever is winning. Needless to say, he's apparently smarter than a 5th grader too.

Hmmm...i think that's it. Very fun, relaxing, entertaining, full of love and good times weekend. Can it get much better than that? I don't think so.
